XL Environmental has customized an environmental insurance program to help transform a former Pennsylvania military base into a township recreational park.
The program specifically addresses risk management needs and offers the township protection against third-party suits, additional cleanup expenses related to the discovery of any contamination, increased waste disposal costs or other circumstances. Additionally, the program covers related legal defense costs.
The former Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) consists of 840 acres and is located in Warminster Township and Ivyland Borough in Bucks County.
The base was designated for closure in 1995 and closed in Sept. 1996. The property is now referred to as the Naval Air Technology Center and is headquarters to many area technology firms.
Warminster Township received 243 acres of the property from the Department of Interior, which originally received the land from the Navy as a public benefit transfer.
