September 4, 2002

Bunker Hill Insurance Company of Boston has received a license from the Connecticut Department of Insurance to sell homeowners policies in that state.

Represented by independent agencies, Bunker Hill expects to issue policies that will be effective in early Jan. 2003. Its sister company, Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation, the ninth-largest auto insurer in Massachusetts, has been writing auto insurance in Connecticut since March and recently surpassed the $1 million mark in written premium.

Bunker Hill offers standard homeowners policies with enhanced coverages that include replacement coverage for homes and their contents, all-risk coverage for contents, extended personal liability coverage, sewer back-up insurance and other lines.
