The Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. announced that Jay Levy, president and co-CEO of The Morstan General Agency, will receive the Louis A. Morelli Memorial award at a formal presentation on April 3 at the PIANY Long Island Regional Awareness Program’s annual awards luncheon, to be held at Leonard’s of Great Neck, Great Neck, N.Y.
“PIANY presents the award, which is given in memory of PIANY’s honorary director Lou Morelli, each year to an individual who has a reputation for working toward the betterment of the American agency system and for the professional growth of the association,” said the bulletin.
Levy resides in Hewlett, N.Y. and is active in numerous professional activities. He has served on the PIANY Long Island RAP committee for the past two years, and is also a member of the Council of Insurance Brokers of Greater New York. He’s also involved with the United Jewish Appeal and Israel Bonds within the insurance community.
“During Jay’s tenure in the insurance trade, he has shown great dedication to the industry,” stated LIRAP Committee Chair Peter Resnick. “He’s a devoted member of PIANY and it is an honor to present him with this award.”
Levy joined The Morstan General Agency in 1980 as a principal. He was formerly with the Simon Cos., where he rose to underwriter of personal lines and moved into the underwriting of excess and surplus lines.
