May 12, 2003

The Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey (IIANJ) recently raised over $20,000 for the New Jersey chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation at their 910th Annual IIANJ Charity Golf Outing which was held on May 5, 2003 at Bamm Hollow Country Club in Lincroft, New Jersey. Over 150 golfers participated in the event, and proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey.

“Several industry friends who helped make this event possible include Cumberland Mutual Insurance Company as the event sponsor as well as ARI Companies and Mercer Mutual Insurance Company. The outing is part of a series of donations that will be made to The Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey which IIANJ has adopted as its state charity,” said an IIANJ bulletin.

Jim McPherson, the chairman of the IIANJ Charity Golf Outing Committee stated, “We’re thrilled. We exceeded last year’s event to raise over $20,000. We can only hope this will help bring a lot of smiles to these children and we have our members and industry friends to thank for that.”

The bulletin noted that “The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the largest non-profit wishgranting organization in the nation. This year the New Jersey chapter will grant over 375 wishes to children under the age of 18 with life-threatening illnesses.” Paul Huegel, President & CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey said, “We are proud to say that is more than one wish a day. We sincerely appreciate all that IIANJ does for our children in helping to make their wishes come true.”
