HRH to Build “Habitat for Humanity Houses”

June 10, 2003

Virginia-based Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton Company, the world’s tenth largest insurance and risk management intermediary, announced that the HRH Charitable Foundation and the company’s employees have committed $1 million and an undetermined number of volunteer hours over the next two years to Habitat for Humanity International.

Habitat and HRH have identified seven locations nationwide in which the company will sponsor homes in 2003. “These sites are located in or near cities in which HRH has a major presence, and in which the need for durable, affordable housing is prevalent,” said the bulletin. “Employees of HRH will help fulfill the company’s commitment by working at these and other Habitat sites located throughout the United States.”

It identified the sites as: “Hartford, CT; Columbus, OH; Richmond, VA; Birmingham, AL; Dallas, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; and Denver, CO,” and indicated that “additional sites of homes sponsored by HRH will be determined early in 2004.”

Martin L. Vaughan, III, Chairman and CEO, stated, “As part of our new five-year strategic plan, HRH adopted Communities as one of our core commitments. This partnership gives our employees and our business partners more opportunities to enrich their communities on a local level, while supporting the company’s national commitment. At HRH, we are dedicated to contributing to the quality of life in the communities that we serve, making each one a better place because HRH is there.”

“HRH’s pledge to sponsor and build houses demonstrates their tremendous commitment to provide safe and affordable homes to families within their communities,” indicated Millard Fuller, Founder and President of Habitat for Humanity International. “Such a gift is an example of Habitat’s model of neighbors helping neighbors.”
