Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri has announced the launching of expanded online capabilities at the Division of Motor Vehicles that are intended to provide more convenient options to consumers.
The owners of nearly 800,000 vehicles can now have their registrations renewed on the Internet through a secure credit card transaction.
As of June 1, motorcycle registrations, which are up for renewal in June, can be renewed online. Commercial registration renewals for vehicles under 55,000 pounds are also available online..
The service ican be accessed at the division’s website www.dmv.ri.gov or by visiting the Rhode Island’s web portal at www.ri.gov.
“Simplifying the process of dealing with state government has been a focus of mine since day one,” Governor Carcieri said. “I am pleased that we are now able to make more registration renewals available online. These options are available to anyone with access to a computer with on-line capabilities. Most public libraries with computers can be used as a resource.”
