Peerless Offers Disaster Planning Guide for Northeast Homeowners

July 19, 2006

Peerless Insurance, a member of Liberty Mutual Group, is helping its 151,000 homeowner insurance customers throughout the northeast protect their families and homes during hurricane season.

A six-page Disaster Planning Guide is available to policyholders on the Peerless Insurance Consumer website at www.peerless-ins.com. The guide helps policyholders develop an action plan for possible evacuation, details what necessities should go into an emergency kit, and explains the importance of undertaking a household inventory among other important safety tips.

“We want our policyholders to be as ready as they can be to get out of harm’s way and that starts with careful planning well in advance of a storm,” said Peerless Insurance President and CEO Dwight Bowie. “Knowing that you have adequate coverage for your property is also an important part of disaster planning and our independent agents are ready to assist our policyholders in evaluating their individual needs,” added Bowie.

To remind policyholders that disaster planning is key for a safe recovery, Peerless Insurance independent agents will be distributing wallet and key cards to policyholders, highlighting some of the most important preparedness tips and providing the claims service toll-free phone number for reporting a loss.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has projected a very active hurricane season for the north Atlantic. Of the eight to 10 named storms predicted to become hurricanes, NOAA projects that four to six could be Category 3 strength or higher. In the event of catastrophic losses in the northeast, Peerless says its mobile claims teams will be strategically dispatched to the centers of storm-damaged regions.

Headquartered in Keene, N.H., Peerless Insurance offers insurance products in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
