Federal officials say an industrial laundry faces more than $160,000 in fines for failing to correct previously cited hazards and for additional workplace safety violations.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Atlas Health Care Linen Services in Watertown, N.Y. failed to fix problems uncovered during an OSHA inspection in November 2006. The plant, then operating under another name, agreed to correct the problems and pay nearly $40,000 in fines.
OSHA officials say follow-up inspections in June found some of the unsafe conditions persisted. That has resulted in fines totaling $163,000, which the business can contest.
The company had no immediate comment Tuesday.
