OSHA, the federal worker safety agency, is suggesting that Yale University provide safety training to students following an accident that killed a drama student.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration does not have jurisdiction over the accident that killed 26-year-old Pierre-Andre Salim last month since he was a student. But its investigation shows the fatal accident could have easily been avoided.
Salim, who was from Indonesia, was crushed to death last month when a stack of wood fell on him as he unloaded sets outside the Yale Repertory Theater.
OSHA has recommended that Yale teach students to safely unload props and that someone with authority oversee the unloading of heavy or awkward loads.
