A former United Airlines flight attendant has settled a suit claiming she was wrongfully fired after close friends and colleagues were killed on a jet hijacked during the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Deborah Jackson said she felt extreme guilt, grief and stress and was unable to work. The Plaistow, New Hampshire resident accepted an offer of furlough from the airline, but was fired after she was unable to return from furlough in 2005.
Jackson said she recovered from post-traumatic stress the following year, but the airline would not rehire her.
Jackson was scheduled to work on the same Flight 175 out of Logan International Airport on the day after the attacks.
Jackson’s lawyer would not disclose terms of the settlement, citing a confidentiality agreement with the airline.
