Delaware Insurance Department employee Gene Reed has filed as a Democratic Party candidate for state insurance commissioner.
He is the first Democrat to file for the office.
Sussex County Recorder of Deeds John Brady is the only Republican to have filed.
Reed has worked in the insurance department for 23 years. He is the director of market conduct and analysis. His father, was a longtime Democratic Party chairman for New Castle County.
Incumbent Insurance Commissioner Matt Denn is running for lieutenant governor.
