Delaware Seeks Funds for Additional Red Light Cameras

April 14, 2008

Delaware could be getting more red light cameras.

The Department of Transportation says state lawmakers are considering adding ten cameras to the 20 already on state roads.

State officials say the cameras brought in more than $3 million in fines last year. Most of that money went to the towns where the cameras are located.

DelDOT says the cameras are helping to lower the number of crashes at intersections.

In a report delivered to lawmakers this year, data showed a 30 percent drop in red-light violations and accidents at a Dover intersection with a camera.
