Fire officials say a blaze has destroyed the Jefferson Market in Jefferson, Maryland.
The fire was reported early Thursday. When the Jefferson Volunteer Company arrived on the scene, flames were through the roof, which eventually partially collapsed.
As many as 70 firefighters from Frederick, Washington, Montgomery and Loudoun, Va., counties battled the blaze. Firefighters remained on the scene until 4 a.m.
Damage was estimated at $1 million. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
