Federal workplace safety regulators are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man at a food processing plant in Fall River, Massachusetts

Police say Justin Cordeiro, an employee at Blount Fine Foods, died from injuries he sustained when a container full of clams and ice fell on him on Wednesday.

Sgt. Thomas Mauretti says Cordeiro was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Company president Todd Blount said in a statement that the accident happened on the soup production floor and the company plans full cooperation in the investigation.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and has opened an investigation.
