The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) said NBC News Correspondent Tom Brokaw will be its special guest speaker for the 2009 New York Division Gala.
The event is being held on December 9 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
This year’s dinner chair and the 2008 honoree, Pierre Ozendo, chairman and CEO of Swiss Re America Corp., said that “Tom Brokaw is one of the most trusted and respected figures in broadcast journalism. His participation at our dinner will make it a most memorable evening.”
IICF will honor Tom Brokaw’s commitment to philanthropy with a grant to the Youth Program of the International Rescue Committee, where Brokaw serves on the board of overseers.c
The proceeds from the event will provide significant grants to other children’s charities in the New York tri-state area such as Boys Hope Girls Hope and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
“IICF pools the collective resources of the insurance industry to provide grants, volunteer service, and leadership to our community,” said Michael P. Fujii, IICF board chair and CEO of Worldwide Insurance for Endurance Specialty Insurance. “One of our grant focus areas provides help to children who are at-risk. The proceeds from this dinner as well as our volunteer activities will enable us to improve the lives of many children throughout our community.”
