A lawyer for the family suing a Pennsylvania school district for allegedly spying on students through school laptops says they won’t seek a class-action damage award.
Lawyer Mark Haltzman says Lower Merion School District student Blake Robbins only plans to seek class status for a court injunction that lays out fixes to the problem.
Hundreds of Lower Merion parents oppose a class-action lawsuit for financial and other reasons.
The suburban Philadelphia district acknowledges it captured 56,000 screen shots and webcam images in an effort to locate school-issued laptops. The district has abandoned the practice and is working to share the images in private with affected students.
Robbins says the district photographed him as he slept in bed.
