Boston-based medial professional liability insurer ProMutual Group will begin selling coverage in Virginia through its member company, ProSelect Insurance Co.
Tom Murphy has been hired to manage the distribution network, community relations and new business development. He will also be responsible for these duties in the state of North Carolina.
Murphy’s background in medical professional liability insurance includes both the underwriting and marketing fields. He was recently president of his own risk management consulting firm in Richmond, Va. Prior to having his own business, Murphy was vice president of sales and marketing for two brokers where he was responsible for producing and managing new business. Murphy also held positions at The Reciprocal Group in Virginia and spent several years with AON as vice president of health care sales.
ProMutual Group insures more than 22,000 physicians and nearly 500 hospitals throughout the county.
