New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has nominated a former federal prosecutor who worked for him at the U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate state insurance fraud.
Ron Chillemi worked for nearly nine years as an assistant U.S. attorney in Camden and Newark prosecuting white-collar crimes.
Prior to that, the 43-year-old Chillemi practiced civil law for two years in Philadelphia and served four years as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia.
Chillemi must be confirmed by the state Senate. He will serve in an acting capacity at the state Department of Law and Public Safety in the interim.
