Zurich received the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s (IICF) “Double I” award this week. The award recognizes Zurich’s influence in the insurance industry and its impact through the company’s corporate responsibility programs on the communities it serves.
The award was presented Wednesday evening at the foundation’s 5th annual New York/northeast division annual benefit dinner, held at The Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. More than 900 insurance industry executives and guests attended the event.
In accepting the award for Zurich, Mike Foley, CEO of Zurich North America commercial and regional chairman of the Americas, said, “Zurich’s promise is to make a sustainable difference in the communities we serve and we are proud to be working with the IICF to make an even greater impact in helping those in need.”
In addition to the company’s regular charitable and volunteer programs, Zurich is planning a new charitable project to celebrate its 100th anniversary in North America. Foley said that in 2012, Zurich employees will plan and participate in “100 Ways” to complete more than 100 projects of service for communities across the U.S. and Canada.
“For the past 100 years, Zurich has contributed to a rich historical tapestry of a successful and productive America by supporting the communities in which we live and work,” Foley said. “We are dedicated to continuing that commitment in the years to come.”
The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s mission is to help communities and enrich lives by combining the collective strengths of the insurance industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership through the collaboration of insurance companies, reinsurance companies, employees, agents and brokers, and strategic partners of the industry. The foundation was established in 1994 and is completely directed and funded by the insurance industry.
