Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, a New York-headquartered law firm, said it hired six attorneys specializing in insurance regulatory, tax and transactions. They are: James Dwyer, Jeffrey Mace, John Pruitt, Linda Sciuto, Cynthia Shoss and P. Bruce Wright.
All six attorneys are joining Sutherland’s New York office as partners. All six were previously partners at law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf. Pruitt and Shoss were co-heads of insurance regulatory department at Dewey & LeBoeuf. Mace was head of Lloyd’s of London practice at the same firm.
A number of partners have been leaving Dewey & LeBoeuf this year because of compensation conflicts and the firm’s financial results, according to media reports. The firm has lost close to 40 of its 300 partners since the beginning of the year. Insurance has traditionally been a strong area of practice for Dewey & LeBoeuf. But more than a dozen partners from the insurance practice group have left the firm so far this year.
