S.H. Smith & Co. Inc., a wholesaler and managing general agent headquartered in Hartford, Conn., appointed Tom Ferracci as underwriter/manager of workers’ compensation.
Ferracci comes from The Hartford Insurance Group, where he served as senior commercial sales underwriter. He has over 13 years of underwriting experience with major carriers, as well as wholesale brokerage experience.
In his new role at S.H. Smith, he will be responsible for the workers’ compensation practice within S.H Smith & Company’s in-house underwriting department. He will market and underwrite business and expand S.H. Smith’s capabilities and services for its customers.
S.H. Smith & Co. is one of the largest privately owned specialty brokers in the U.S. The firm has over $200 million in written premium and more than 100 employees. In addition to its home office in Hartford, Connecticut, it has several regional offices located in Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island.
