The first snow on the ground is a reminder that the ski season is getting started in Connecticut.
A bill approved by lawmakers and signed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy earlier this year seeks to strengthen enforcement of existing safety regulations at ski areas in the state.
The measure came in response to an incident at the Woodbury Ski Area last year in which a teenager fell from a chairlift.
The regulations apply to both ski operators and skiers and cover a wide range of areas including trail markings, ski lifts and equipment.
