Progressive Appointing New Independent Agents in Massachusetts

May 7, 2015

The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies announced it is actively appointing new agents for its auto product in Massachusetts.

The Mayfield Village, Ohio-based Progressive said Massachusetts became the 50th and final state in Progressive’s national auto product rollout, which went live in the state in May 2014. The insurer said it is now looking for agents interested in adding its products to their agency.

Progressive Regional Sales Manager Steven Pichette stated: “Everyone knows Flo. It’s hard to miss our commercials. But many people don’t realize we’re the leading auto insurer through independent agents in the country and we’re pleased to bring our product to agents in Massachusetts.”

A Progressive spokesperson said there are no specific numbers around how many agents Progressive is looking to appoint, but added that the company is looking for productive partnerships with agencies.

Progressive said it is offering newly appointed agents access to its proprietary programs like Snapshot, a usage-based insurance program.

Additionally, Progressive said it offers agents a homeowners product provided and serviced by property insurer American Strategic Insurance (ASI). With its recent acquisition of a controlling interest in ASI’s parent company, ARX Holding Corp., Progressive said it plans to improve the home and auto bundling options offered to agents. Additional product lines include motorcycles, RVs, boats and commercial auto.

Founded in 1937, Progressive is the fourth largest auto insurer in the country and, through ASI, one of the top 20 homeowners carriers.
