The New Jersey Assembly passed A-4144 (An Act concerning insurance producer licensing and amending P.L.2001, c.210.) on May 14.
The bill would amend the “New Jersey Insurance Producer Licensing Act of 2001” to require the commissioner of New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) to ensure that the insurance producer licensing examination and registration materials for the examination are offered in English and Spanish.
The bill also requires the commissioner to make available to approved insurance education providers, instructional materials in Spanish, suitable for use as a course curriculum for preparation for the examination.
The measure has been referred to the New Jersey Senate Commerce Committee for further consideration following the Assembly’s approval of the bill.
