June 11, 2015

Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr., announced the appointment of Lynn Dickerson as the Maryland Insurance Administration’s (MIA) new associate commissioner, Property and Casualty.

Dickerson brings years of executive-level experience in the property/casualty field, including a decade spent as vice president of operations for State Farm Insurance Companies.

As associate commissioner, Dickerson oversees the review of rates and forms filed by insurance carriers, as well as the investigation of complaints from consumers. He supervises a staff of more than 40.

“We are fortunate to have found someone with such a depth of knowledge and experience to lead this crucial unit of our agency,” Redmer said. “Lynn’s work, both in underwriting and claims, will serve him well here.”

At State Farm, Dickerson worked his way up through the company. His positions included serving as assistant vice president of property/casualty underwriting and as claims manager. Most recently, he operated Dickerson & Associates LLC, which assists small business owners to develop long-term growth strategies.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to join the Maryland Insurance Administration,” Dickerson said. “I look forward to helping advance the MIA’s goal of efficiently and effectively servicing both the consumers of insurance products and the insurance industry.”

The Maryland Insurance Administration is an independent state agency charged with regulating Maryland’s $28.5 billion insurance industry.
