Goji, a Boston-based independent online insurance agency with a focus on auto insurance, hired Amit Basak as president.
Basak will work with Goji Chief Executive Officer Steve Kezirian and will directly oversee the product, marketing, finance and analytics functions at Goji.
Basak previously served as chairman of Acclaris, a Towers Watson company that provides technology services for health plans, benefit consultants, private exchanges and financial institutions, and general partner at Staley Capital.
Goji, known as Consumer United until last year, was established in 2007. It currently partners with 16 carriers including Progressive, Travelers, Safeco, Esurance, 21st Century and Plymouth Rock. Goji is backed by private equity firms Spark Capital, Thayer Street Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, and Five Elms Capital.
