Keeping students safe on college campuses is the focus of an upcoming conference in Massachusetts.
The state Department of Higher Education says the gathering scheduled for Wednesday at the DCU Center in Worcester is expected to attract hundreds of officials from public and private schools.
A key topic will be protecting students from sexual assaults with a keynote address from Catherine Lhamon, assistant secretary for civil rights in the U.S. Department of Education.
Campus police chiefs are also planning to discuss the threat of active shooters on college campuses.
Among the state leaders expected to attend are Republican Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey, state Education Secretary James Peyser, Higher Education Commissioner Carlos Santiago and University of Massachusetts President Martin Meehan.
