Brown Thayer Shedd Insurance Agency (BTS Darien) has hired Ryan P. Garrity as senior vice president of its Darien, Conn., location.

In this role, Garrity joins BTS Darien President Edward D. “Tim” Brown in co-managing day-to-day operations for the agency while assuming responsibility for expanding its private client base and growing its existing business.

“Our new partnership with Cross Insurance provides our current and future clients with expanded product and service offerings, and we anticipate an accelerated period of growth,” said BTS Darien President Brown in a company press release. “Ryan’s addition to our team adds industry strength and enormous potential within our community and beyond.”

Garrity has held a variety of sales positions in the insurance industry, most recently working for a Private Client Group division of an insurance agency, providing risk management solutions for high-net-worth individuals and/or their businesses.

Prior to his insurance career, Garrity spent 17 years as a PGA Professional, including two summers as an assistant professional at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien and a few starts on the PGA Tour. Following his professional golf career, with a final role as director of golf at The Dye Preserve in Jupiter, Fla., he worked for an agency in Tequesta, Fla., focusing on the agency’s Private Country Club Division and a $150M town development project in Jupiter.
