ALKEME Acquires New York City Real Estate Specialist Gotham Brokerage

September 24, 2025

California-based ALKEME Insurance reports it has acquired Gotham Brokerage Co., a New York City insurance agency specializing in insurance for condos, co-ops, and apartments with a concentration in the high-value real estate markets of Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The acquisition enhances ALKEME’s personal insurance capabilities and adds a strategic foothold in one of the nation’s most dynamic insurance markets, according to Curtis Barton, CEO of ALKEME.

Jeffrey Schneider, president of Gotham Brokerage Co., said the deal allows Gotham to “preserve the personal, hands-on service” his firm has been known for “while leveraging the resources, technology, and strength of a Top 25 national brokerage.”

Gotham Brokerage was founded 60 years ago by Schneider’s parents. He joined the firm in 1982.

The Gotham Brokerage acquisition comes less than a month after ALKEME announced it had acquired another East Coast business, D&S Agency, an employee benefits agency headquartered in Hardy, Virginia. The agency, run by Bill Kite and Amanda Dammann, serves employers and individuals in Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee with tailored benefit plans.

ALKEME offers commercial and personal insurance, employee and executive benefits, retirement and wealth management services. Since its founding in 2020, it has completed more than 70 acquisitions and now serves its customers from over 60 locations in 29 states.

ALKEME is ranked by Insurance Journal as one of the top 25 largest agencies in the country.
