General Re and Cologne Re have announced that as of today their global brand name will be “GeneralCologne Re” (GCR) The change reflects company efforts to implement, “a new, worldwide reinsurance brand strategy for its direct reinsurance business.”
“The essence of our direct reinsurance business model is our service to our clients and our excellence in underwriting and long-term relationships. In order to do all of this effectively, we need to operate seamlessly as one organization,” said Ronald E Ferguson, Chairman and CEO of General Re.
The company will also restructure its management to “bring clarity of purpose and accountability to the global organization.” Direct property/casualty reinsurance will operate on a regional basis in cooperation with local business units in an effort “to move faster, smarter, and more effectively in local markets throughout the world, reinforcing GeneralCologne Re’s direct business model,” said the announcement.
One of the world’s leading reinsurers, GCR operates globally through “70 branch offices and subsidiaries in key reinsurance markets around the world.”
