Brandon Named CEO, Executive Vice President General Re

Joseph Brandon has been promoted to executive vice president of General Re Corp. and named vice chairman and chief executive of General Reinsurance Corp. Brandon will oversee all North American reinsurance and insurance operations including General Reinsurance Corp., Genesis, General Star, Fairfield Insurance Co., and GeneralCologne Life Re.

In addition, Brandon, a member sof the General Re Corp. Executive Committee, has responsibility for Global Property Facultative, Global Casualty Facultative, Global Finance, Global Legal Services and General Re-New England Asset Management Inc.

Franklin Montross IV has been promoted to executive vice president of General Re Corp. and appointed as GeneralCologne Re’s chief underwriting officer. In addition, Montross was named vice chairman and chief underwriting officer of General Reinsurance Corp. As GeneralCologen Re’s chief underwriter, he has worldwide responsibility for the company’s underwriting and actuarial practices and standards. As a member of the executive committee of the board, Montross heads the Latin American Region and has responsibility on a global basis for actuarial, retrocessions and claim services.

Other promotions include Peter Lutke-Bornefeld to CEO of Cologne Re; Hans Peter Gerhardt to executive vice president; William Thiele, John Cholnoky and Peter Nance to senior vice presidents of General Re Corp.; Elizabeth Monrad to chief financial officer; Tim McCaffrey to general counsel of General Re Corp.; and Milan Vukelic, Eckhard Volkening and Jack Koepke to vice presidents of General Re Corp
