Broker and insurance services provider Brown & Brown has joined forces with Starlink Logistics, Inc., Electronic Data Systems and a number of cargo insurance underwriters to offer a new program employing advanced satellite-based tracking technology, vehicle location and call center support called StarProtect (TM).
It “will offer the transportation business a risk management tool unequaled within the industry,” said a company announcement, providing “the market’s most comprehensive vehicle location system, deliverable throughout the world.”
The new system supplements B&B’s StarVision (TM) technology, and is underwritten by a number of large carriers, all “rated A (XII) or better by Bests.” It will make coverage available to all sectors of the transportation market, and “bring a more affordable protection to our clients at a time when insurance costs are on the rise,” indicated Ken Petersen, President of Commercial Programs.
StarProtect envisions close cooperation between insurance agents and their clients to implement a risk management strategy combining tracking technology and insurance protection at a reasonable cost.
