Bermuda’s Allied World Assurance Company announced the appointment of William Davis Jr. as Senior VP of its Reinsurance Department, based at the company’s new headquarters and operational center in Hamilton.
Allied World was formed last November in the wake of Sept. 11 by AIG, Chubb, Goldman Sachs and other investors as a property casualty insurer and reinsurer.
Davis brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Most recently he served as President/CEO of Facultative ReSources, a subsidiary of W.R. Berkley Corp.; Sr. VP and Director of Skandia America Reinsurance Co., and as Sr. VP and Executive Management Group member of St. Paul Re.
Davis will be busy. Allied World’s announcement indicated that it expects its “treaty and facultative operations will be both substantial and global in scope. Although, initially, the bulk of Allied World’s premium growth is emanating from North America, reinsurance in Northern and Western Europe, and later outside these geographical areas will be transacted, especially first-party protections for mature carriers.”|”allied, world, names, william, davis, jr., sr., vp-reinsurance,
