Bermuda-based Allied World Assurance Company, Ltd (AWAC) announced that Gerald W. Browning has joined the company as a VP, responsible for the Casualty Facultative Reinsurance Department, and that Sylvan D. Richards Jr. has been appointed to the position of Assistant VP, General Liability.
Browning’s role will be to “manage the production and underwriting of casualty facultative business including individual risk and facultative programme business,” said the company. He was previously VP and Manager of the corporate risk options department of The Hartford, underwriting finite risk, and has over 20 years’ experience in a variety of management and senior roles within the insurance and reinsurance industry.
Richards, a native of Bermuda, will “evaluate the insurance needs of his clients and find creative ways to manage their risk profile,” said the announcement. Prior to joining AWAC, he was a casualty underwriter in the excess casualty department at ACE Bermuda Insurance Company Ltd. and also worked as an assistant casualty broker at Marsh and McLennan Bermuda Ltd.
