Willis Group Holdings has announced that John McDonnell, a 20 year insurance industry veteran, has joined Willis as executive vice president, director of Willis’ Japan Services Business in North America.
Prior to joining Willis, McDonnell worked for Marsh for the last 10 years, most recently as managing director of its New York Japanese operation. This is a return to Willis for McDonnell as he worked in Willis’ casualty unit from 1990 to 1994.
In his new capacity, McDonnell will provide risk management services and solutions to Japanese corporations worldwide.
“We are excited that we continue to add recognized industry leaders to our already strong roster of insurance professionals,” said Mario Vitale, CEO of Willis North America. “John McDonnell has demonstrated an ability to foster teams, grow businesses, meet the increasingly complex risk management challenges companies face every day. As his experience affords great perspective, he is perfectly suited to carry on the growth of our Japanese unit and we look forward to his contribution.”
“The opportunity offered me to return to Willis and lead its Japan practice in North America, building on an already strong and established practice around the world, made this decision very easy”, McDonnell said.
