Guy Carpenter & Company Inc., the leading global risk and reinsurance specialist and a part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies, announced the appointment of Ray Carless as Executive Chairman of its Australia, New Zealand and Pacific operations, Guy Carpenter & Company Pty, Ltd., effective March 27. He will be based in Sydney and will report to Martin Burrough, CEO of the Asia Pacific Region.
“I am pleased to announce the addition of Ray to our outstanding senior team,” said Burrough. “Over his career, Ray has built deep relationships with leaders across both the industry and the region, and his reputation for strategic focus is second to none.”
Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, Carless, 51, spent 18 years with Benfield Australia. During his time with the company, he served on the Group board for 10 years, among other appointments. From 1986 to 2000, he was leader of Benfield’s Australian and New Zealand operations.
In addition to his development role, Carless assumes the responsibilities previously held by John Richardson, who will remain as a Director on the board of Guy Carpenter & Company Pty, Ltd.
