An earthquake measuring magnitude 6.2 struck the Southeastern peninsula of Japan’s main Island, Honshu, early Monday morning (local time). No deaths have been reported but at least five people suffered minor injuries.
The quake’s epicenter was in was in Oita prefecture, about 500 miles (800 kms) southwest of Tokyo. Minor structural damage has been reported, including the City of Hiroshima, the largest population center in the region. Local transport links were also disrupted. However, no tsunami warnings have been issued, and overall property damage estimates are low .
