Guy Carpenter & Co. announced that Berry Verkaar has joined the firm as Senior Vice President – Treaty for the Benelux region. He will be based in Rotterdam and report to Managing Director J. Bruno Bogaerts, and will assume responsibility for leading treaty activity and new business development in the Netherlands.
Bogaerts indicated he would become a “key contributor to furthering our growth in the Netherlands,” and that Guy Carpenter would profit from his “deep professional experience, strategic acumen and insight.” He indicated that the risk management and reinsurance division of MMC is seeking to expand its “growth across Europe and building our capabilities and resources in the region’s most important markets.”
Verkaar has more than 20 years of experience in the international insurance and risk management industry. He joins Guy Carpenter from AXA Netherlands where he led Strategic Business Programs. In addition to establishing an independent management consulting business, he also previously led Fortis Corporate Insurance’s Netherlands property group after holding a senior management position in the company’s Belgium and Netherlands business development unit.
