Dublin-based Research and Markets has added “UK General Insurance Competitor Tracker Q4” to their offering.
The research firm described the new study as providing “expert analysis and opinion on the strategic movements of leading competitors in the general insurance market.”
It includes information on new product developments, acquisition activity, distribution, new corporate partnerships and performance. The analysis includes the following significant players in the U.K. market: Allianz, AXA, Fortis, Groupama, Norwich Union, RBS Insurance, Royal & SunAlliance and Zurich.
Recent activity in the market includes a discussion of the fourth quarter 2007 purchase of Broker Network by Towergate at 605 pence ($11.85) per share. “The move is consistent with Towergate’s stated aim of establishing a network to accompany its existing distribution channels,” said the bulletin.
The study also discusses Allianz contemplated legal action against Yorkshire Water for potential negligence regarding maintenance of drainage systems before the summer floods. It notes that “other insurers are also considering legal action, and, if Allianz is successful, they may follow suit.”
