Marsh announced the appointment of Jeff Colburn as UK Leader of its Risk Consulting Practice in succession to George Davies, who has become Head of Marsh UK’s Risk Management Practice (See IJ web site – https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/international/2008/06/17/91035.htm).
He will be based in London and will report both to Martin South, CEO of Marsh UK and John Merkovsky, Global Head of Risk Consulting. Colburn most recently served as the Washington DC-based Chief Operating Officer for Risk Consulting’s specialty practices.
In a timely comment, Colburn noted: “As the fall-out from the credit crunch continues to ripple through the UK economy, business leaders have realised that there is no longer any room for complacency when it comes to managing their risks. By taking a truly holistic approach to risk, firms can effectively manage their business risk and actually gain a competitive advantage in these tougher times.”
Marsh also announced that Rob de Jonge will lead Marsh’s Risk Consulting activities across Continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa in addition to his current responsibilities as Head of Risk Consulting in the Netherlands. He will report to David Bachelor, CEO of Marsh in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and also to Mr Merkovsky.
