W. R. Berkley Corp. announced the formation of Berkley Underwriting Managers Canada, Ltd. The new unit is based in Toronto and will offer a wide range of specialty casualty commercial insurance products, including general liability, products liability and other commercial lines on behalf of the Canadian branch of Berkley Insurance Company.
Michael McLachlan has been named president of Berkley Underwriting Managers Canada. He is a graduate of Manchester University in England with a degree in Economics, and has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.
Chairman and CEO William R. Berkley commented: “We are pleased to announce the formation of Berkley Underwriting Managers Canada and to name an accomplished industry veteran, Mike McLachlan, to lead the unit. Actions such as this represent a continuing example of our efforts to expand the footprint of our specialty lines in North America.”
