Ellis to Lead Willis ERM Business; Rivers Named Energy CEO

November 6, 2008

Willis Group Holdings has appointed Phillip Ellis as leader of a new division focused on growing the company’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) business for Willis’ Global Retail and Specialty teams.

He was most recently Chairman of Willis Energy. In his new role he will report directly to Grahame Millwater, President of Willis Group, while acting as non-executive Chairman of Willis Energy.

Prior to joining Willis in 2006, Ellis served with the Boston Consulting Group as leader of the firm’s Oil and Gas Practice. Before that, he was with Booz Allen & Hamilton where he last headed up the firm’s Energy Practice for Europe and the Middle East.

Millwater noted Ellis’ “20 years of experience leading global management consulting businesses,” and added that he will focus on brining together Willis’ expertise in “risk engineering, captive consulting, actuarial studies, risk modeling, ERM and many other related areas.”

Alistair Rivers, CEO of Willis Marine, will take on the role of CEO of Willis Energy, in addition to his current duties. He will continue to report to Joe Trotti, CEO of Global Specialties. Energy and Marine will remain separate businesses with separate executive teams, but they will share Rivers as a leader.

Trotti expressed his confidence in Rivers’ abilities. He added: “Willis has made significant investments in our global Energy and Marine businesses to enhance our offering to clients. Under Alistair Rivers’ and Phil Ellis’ leadership, both businesses have expanded their global footprint and have delivered strong growth and profit despite highly competitive market conditions.”
