Markel International Limited has appointed Tom Drake as underwriter in its Singapore branch. The appointment will help Markel to develop facultative and treaty business in the property sector.
Drake has more than 30 years’ experience in insurance. He joins Markel from Guy Carpenter, Singapore, where he was responsible for business development in South East Asia and has had significant success with retrocession work and penetration into Vietnamese and Indonesian markets. Before joining Guy Carpenter, he worked for Arthur Gallagher and Gallagher Re in Asia, producing and placing a wide variety of treaty business.
