Willis Group Holdings announced that Toby Wemyss has been appointed CEO of its Global Markets International (GMI) division, effective immediately. He is based in London, and reports to Dominic Samengo-Turner, CEO of Willis’ London Market Wholesale businesses – Faber & Dumas, Willis Facultative and GMI.
GMI is Willis’ “center of excellence for International Property and Casualty risks,” which supports the Group’s retail offices worldwide. Over 250 Associates are based in London, Singapore, Melbourne, Ipswich and Mumbai. The division incorporates a number of industry practice groups including Power and Utilities, Renewable Energy, Terrorism, Leisure and Hospitality, Life Sciences and Metals and Mining.
Wemyss, most recently served as the Managing Director of GMI. He started his insurance career at Willis and has been with the Group for 10 years. He began as a market-facing property broker but gained experience in a number of different roles including being leader of the Terrorism team, co-leader of the Asia Pacific team and Chief Operating Officer of GMI.
Samengo-Turner commented: “GMI is a very strong business and is at the core of Willis’ London Market operations. Toby has the expertise and the relationships, both internally and externally, to expand our capabilities and deliver growth, in partnership with the Willis International network.”
