May 6, 2011

The Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group announced that Liberty Seguros in Brazil has signed an agreement with FIFA [soccer football’s governing body] to become a FIFA World Cup National Supporter for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and the FIFA Confederation Cup 2013.

Liberty Seguros’ FIFA World Cup involvement makes it the “Official Insurance Provider of the FIFA World Cup 2014,” said the bulletin.

Chairman and CEO Edmund F. Kelly explained: “As a global company, it’s important for us to create partnerships that help us successfully communicate to our many diverse audiences. This is a unique opportunity to associate our brand with the most watched sport in the world during its signature event – the FIFA World Cup.”

FIFA’s Marketing Director Thierry Weil added: “It gives us great pleasure to welcome Liberty Seguros to our sponsorship family for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The fact that so many Brazilian brands are showing such great interest in the event years before it is due to arrive in the country highlights what football and the FIFA World Cup means to the people of Brazil. We’re looking forward to Liberty Seguros accompanying us on the journey to 2014.”

Liberty Seguros’ agreement, which became effective March 1, 2011 and runs until October 2014, is for all 64 matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and 16 matches of the FIFA Confederation Cup 2013.
