La Playa Insurance will start providing coverage for yachts and other pleasure crafts after hiring Mike Taylor-West as head of Private Client & Marine.
The brokerage, which has offices in London, Cambridge and New York, will access a variety of top markets, including Lloyd’s of London, to provide coverage for yachts, motor yachts and superyachts.
“A number of insurance intermediaries exist for specialist yacht insurance but few provide the genuine capacity for personalized and expert relationships across their clients’ whole insurance portfolio – properties, valuables, cars and yachts,” Taylor-West said. “And as well as insuring the craft as an asset, we can help with chartering, U.K. crew employer liability and crew medical needs.”
Taylor-West is a veteran sailor with more than 17 years of experience in private client and marine service at Pantaenius, Chubb and Savills Insurance Services. He will be based out of London.
The company will offer standalone coverage, as well as portfolio coverage for clients looking to add yacht coverage to other policies.
