Willis Re, the reinsurance arm of Willis Group Holdings, announced the appointment of Kieran Angelini-Hurll as Regional Director of its Indian Sub-Continent, Middle East, North Africa and Turkey operations, a newly created post within the group.
He will be based in London with treaty reinsurance teams in Mumbai, Dubai and London reporting to him. “These areas form part of the wider Willis Re Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Turkey and North Africa (APMETA) team headed by Maurice Williams in London,” the bulletin explained.
Angelini-Hurll joined Willis Re in 1994 and has served major insurance company and natural catastrophe scheme clients across a range of territories during this time, both from his current London base and from an extended secondment in Singapore. Having also led the Indian Sub-Continent team, his experience provides a broad appreciation of the challenges facing emerging market clients and the strategic use of reinsurance to assist with capital management and earnings volatility.
Williams noted Angelini-Hurll’s “extensive experience in emerging markets and long tenure in Willis Re,” indicating that he is “ideally positioned to ensure the full range of our service offering and value proposition is delivered to our clients in these key areas. Willis Re will continue to invest in building resources in these regions to match our clients’ growth and their constantly evolving and increasingly sophisticated risk management needs.”
Angelini-Hurll replied he is looking forward to handling the new post as the area “have delivered impressive growth for Willis Re in recent years, and I look forward to further expansion?”
