Aon Launches ‘Technology-based Enhancement’ for WorldAware Solutions

Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of Aon plc, announced the unveiling of its “WorldAware Global Gateway,” which the bulletin described as a “technology-based enhancement to WorldAware Solutions, Aon’s award-winning travel risk management platform.”

Aon said the “Gateway will empower clients with the ability to better manage the travel security risk of their employees. Aon is expanding its WorldAware offering to clients in partnership with Cornerstone Information Systems, a global technology company helping travel management companies, corporate travel departments, travel technology companies, and global distribution systems work more efficiently and more profitably.

“Aon Worldaware Global Gateway provides a secure, accurate feed directly from a client’s Travel provider to the Worldaware Travel Management System. The product works irrespective of the Global Distribution System (GDS) (a GDS is a worldwide computerized reservation network used as a single point of access for reserving airline seats, hotel rooms, rental cars, and other travel related items by travel agents, online reservation sites, and large corporations).”

Ian Nunn, Head of Aon Worldaware Solutions, explained: “Business travelers face a multitude of potential risks when considering visits to new or complex overseas environments. Interestingly, of the eight largest emerging markets, five are located in what could be regarded as presenting the highest security risk to the business traveler.

“The principal sources of risk to the business traveler: that of accidental injury or illness through environmental elements such as endemic disease, and that of malevolent events, such as robbery or terrorist attack requires a comprehensive safe travel management program to reduce or deter risk to appropriate levels in accordance with client risk appetites.

“Today’s announcement enables Aon to feed the majority of Travel Provider data into our Travel Management System through the Global Gateway, «he added. “This innovative technology is an industry ‘best practice’ solution that will make WorldAware Solutions one of the most robust safe travel platforms in the market. It will empower our clients with the ability to respond to an incident quickly, regardless of whether it threatens their daily workspace or an offsite location where an employee is visiting.”

The announcement explained that “Aon WorldAware Solutions is an end-to-end travel risk management platform that incorporates travel risk analysis, training and awareness; risk-managed travel and alerts; and incident response. As part of the travel risk analysis, Aon’s 24/7 Crisis Operations Centers can activate company safe travel/insurance policies and contact relevant third parties. The provision of a unique client telephone number ensures all responses are initiated through the Crisis Operations Centre which is there to support travelers for any and every type of travel related incident.”
