Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG announced the appointment of John Bender as CEO for the company’s global reinsurance operations. He has overseen Allied World’s reinsurance platform globally since 2011.
President and CEO Scott Carmilani noted Bender’s willingness to take on any “assignment asked of him;” adding that he “has shown great skill, team work, and leadership as we added to our treaty operations in the U.S. and abroad.”
Bender joined Allied World in 2007 as the COO of Allied World Reinsurance Company where he was responsible for expanding the company’s U.S. reinsurance platform and for overseeing day-to-day operations.
Since December 2011he has assumed responsibility for providing strategic leadership and executing business strategies for the company’s global reinsurance operations. Prior to joining Allied World, Bender held several senior management positions at Platinum Underwriters. Before Platinum, he held numerous claims and underwriting positions with St. Paul Reinsurance Management Company.
