XL Group has appointed Thisiani Matsumura Martins as technical officer of its insurance operation in Brazil, subject to approval by the local supervisory authority.
She succeeds Juan Bragadin, who will continue working with XL Group as a consultant in the Latin American market. Matsumura Martins’ main responsibility will be further strengthening XL Group’s market offering by managing product approvals and compliance, as well as reinsurance with Brazil’s insurance regulator SUSEP. She is based in Sao Paulo and reports into Renato Rodrigues, country manager of XL Group’s insurance operation in Brazil.
Ms. Matsumura Martins has over 19 years of experience in property, energy, construction, and aviation underwriting. She joins XL Group from Liberty Seguros Brazil, where she was head of commercial lines products and reinsurance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from FAAP University and an MBA in insurance, reinsurance and arbitration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas.
